Child Nepal believes in the transformative power of sports in shaping the lives of children, adolescents and youth. Sports not only promote physical health but also nurture important life skills such as teamwork, discipline, resilience, and leadership. This thematic area focuses on integrating sports into our programs to enhance the holistic development of children across Nepal.

Why Sports?

Objectives of Child Nepal’s Sports Program

The Sports and Children program at Child Nepal aims to achieve several key objectives:

  2. Skill Enhancement: To develop and enhance sports skills among children, providing them with opportunities to explore and excel in various sports disciplines.
  3. Promote Traditional sports: To promote traditional sport events of Nepal like Kabaddi, Dandibio etc. among new generation.
  4. Social Integration: To promote social inclusion and community engagement through sports, fostering friendships and camaraderie among children from diverse backgrounds.
  5. Educational Support: To use sports as a tool for education, encouraging school attendance, academic achievement, and positive behavior among children.
  6. Leadership and Empowerment: To empower children by cultivating leadership qualities, confidence, and a sense of responsibility through sports activities.

Program Activities

The Sports and Children program encompasses a variety of activities designed to cater to the interests and needs of children:

  • Sports Training: Regular coaching sessions in different sports disciplines such as cricket, football, badminton, volleyball, athletics etc.
  • Tournaments and Competitions: Organizing intra-school and inter-school sports tournaments to provide children with competitive opportunities and showcase their talents.
  • Health and Fitness Camps: Conducting health and fitness camps to educate children about nutrition, physical fitness, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Community Sports Events: Organizing community-wide sports events to promote community engagement and social cohesion.

Collaborations and Partnerships

Child Nepal collaborates with various stakeholders including schools, local communities, sports organizations, and government bodies to ensure the success and sustainability of the Sports and Children program. It has initiated partnership with FIFA Foundation for football programs for the holistic development of children in Nepal. These partnerships enable to expand our reach, access resources, and provide children with diverse opportunities in sports and recreation.

  • Volunteer: Volunteer as a coach, mentor, or organizer for sports events and activities.
