Norms and Values

People centered Approach
People centred prospective Child Nepal's (CN) approach is right based, participatory, non-sectarian and strives for quality. CN perceives community, particularly children as right holders and facilitate the process to ensure their participation in initial phase to benefit taking phase of programme at local level to national level. It deals with diverse communities, particularly children without any discrimination and maintains quality in its programme interventions and services. Participation of team members of CN is encouraged to develop ownership among them towards organization and programme intervened.

Equal opportunity
We believe that children have innate talents and creativities CN facilitates to provide opportunities and platform for them to sketch out their abilities. CN encourage them to have opportunity to express their opinions and views in the planning, decision and policy making level regardless to caste, class, culture, religion, age and gender. CN follows these norms within team members of organization.

Respect human rights
CN is itself as a human right organization, it respect, protect and promote human rights of community in general and children in particular. It doesn't follow any discrimination manner towards diverse groups of community in terms of human right perspective.

Mutual respect

CN facilitate to promote mutual respect among different castes, ethnicity, gender, age groups, cultural and religious groups by enhancing cooperative and collaborative cultural to keep harmonious and peaceful village and nation as well. CN believes that mutual respect leads to true participation, empowerment, motivation and commitment.

Impartiality

In a spirit of impartiality, neutrality and equality in matters of politics, religion, culture, gender, caste, age and ethnicity and CN avoided discrimination in any form. It specially respects and encourages to the voice less deprived children for their rights protection and overall development.

Empathy

CN has spirit of empathy towards deprived, marginalized and poor community, particularly children to make them benefited from mainstream development of the nation in fostering social justice and equity. CN always take the side of, and express solidarity with marginalized caste, class, poor and community, children in particular.

Accountability

CN promote the norm of accountability within CN team members and among community, particularly children with whom CN work together.

Transparency
CN maintains transparency in its overall program activities. Transparency regarding account, programs and policies are made by the organization. Transparency is also maintained community level; it will be efficient, simple, visible and accessible to all concern stakeholders.

Commitment

In a spirit of commitment towards realization the organizational vision, mission, objective and strategy, a strong result orientation shall be prevail in organizational management and its programmes.

Facilitation

In the spirit of facilitation, team building, inspiration, empowerment, delegation and participation in decision making.

Integrity

CN emphasize high moral integrity by facilitating the never ending process of action - reflection - action that foster taking place real development efforts to develop village as well as nation. it is promoted within CN team members and community, particularly children for team works and cooperation having trustworthy environment.

Inclusiveness

CN promotes inclusive development that benefited those community, particularly children who are most deprived, marginalized and oppressed from educational, health, economic, socio-cultural, linguistic and other basic opportunities by caste wise, regional, gender, age wise, cultural and social discriminations and disparities thereby they will be from remaining in the situation of the poor and deprived from generation to generation.

Sustainability

CN actively involve in fund raising programmes with thrust of complement to local resource mobilization and capacity building of community in general and children in particular. It believes that generating self mobilizing situation of community itself foster sustainable development of their own and brings them into mainstream development of the nation. CN develops such fund raising programs that are able to generate resources itself for its sustainability for long lasting benefits to the needy children and their families.

For example

a.  Child Development Centre (CDC):
The organization has mobilized the local stakeholders for running the centre. The service on education and health are provided to the children with little charge so that the centre can sustain. Also, the sources are generated from the local groups and interested community (Duwachaur Society, Kathmandu and others) who want to support the program.

b.  Support to schools:
Schools are the sustainable institutions and the support provided to them is also long lasting. So as to develop the quality in education, CN is launching the program to strengthen Local School Management Committees (SMCs) for the formation of nationwide network. These programs are sustainable itself. The SMCs itself designs plans for the development of schools and CN only facilitates on that. Also, the programs of computer education, strengthening the physical infrastructure etc. sustain if the SMCs are able and strong. On the other hand, the schools are being handed under the management of community. This develops the feeling of ownership among them and they too contribute in sustaining the program.

c. JHULKA Publication:
This is a child rights bi-monthly magazine based on cartoons, fine arts and photographs. Since the publication is child friendly as compared to the regular trend of child publication, it can sustain in the market in future. The children themselves are motivated to buy the magazines. On the other hand, child rights organizations (NGOs/INGOs), schools and child clubs are the other destinations for the magazines distribution.

Similarly, the other programs are also launched on the sustainability strategic norms.

CN welcomes all the individuals, organizations, local groups, line agencies, ministries and donor communities for partnership and common endeavors if the organizational norms and values resembles.
